Interviews
Here are the first three parts to the interview I (informally) conducted with my parents.

Part 1: Mom - Her time before meeting Dad.
Part 2: Dad - His time before meeting Mom.
Part 3: Both - From meeting to around 1950's.
No Cooking
By no means am I a cook. I definitely have aspirations of becoming one, but I am not near that now.

The last time I tried to do a crock pot roast, it was a disaster. How can you screw up a crock pot roast, you ask? I don't know. But I did it. The veggies turned out tasting very good, but the meat was flavorless. I could also feel the moisture from my mouth being sucked away as the meat got closer to it. Even dousing it in worchestershire sauce did not help. I tasted the sauce for a brief moment, then, pine shavings.

Needless to say, I was a bit nervous about making another crock pot dinner yesterday. I had purchased all the ingredients I needed and performed according to the recipe. The first part of the recipe called for an hour on high before the slow cooking begins. I turned the switch on and went about my business. (I work from home on Mondays.)

About 40 minutes later, I came back to see how it was going. The pot was cold... That's right, folks. The genius forgot to supply power to the crock pot. I plugged it in.

After an hour, I switched it down to low and headed out to get my dental night (occlusal) guard fitted. Since Mary works at our dentists office, I stayed there until her work day was finished. When we got home, I found that I had not completely sealed the lid on the crock pot. Beautiful.

Thankfully, this recipe proved to be Kerry-proof. I cooked some egg noodles, slapped the chicken down on them, then covered the lot with the happy sauce in the crock pot. Though the chicken was kinda dry, the meal came off like a charm. Whew!
Christmas to Today Update

I have neglected the blog once again. Becoming a recurring theme, isn't it?

Christmas went well this past year. Mary and I headed to Oklahoma to visit my parents. The drive down was uneventful. We had actually contemplated waiting to make the drive.

I did not have to work Wednesday (Dec 24) through Thursday (Jan 1). However, once again, we slacked and didn't even start really getting ready until Wednesday morning, instead of Tuesday night like we should have done. By the time we got everything ready, I estimated that we would arrive at my parents house around 12:30am, Christmas morning. We made it at 12:15. :-)

Got to visit with good friends and watched the DVD of Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog.

I set aside some special time to interview my parents about their lives. I asked them all kinds of questions about growing up, their families, how they met, and life together. I got about 2.75 hours of audio recording. Though, I did not get but half of the story. I must continue the interviews at a later date. I will be transcribing the audio and making it available, if anyone is interested.

On the way back home, we stopped in Tulsa and met up with two of the coolest. Had a late lunch at Johnny Carino's Country Italian restaurant and headed out with left-overs (this will come into play later).

From Tulsa we headed east to visit Mary's sister in Arkansas. Stayed there far too long, enjoying the company. We finally made it home around 2:15am.

Mary had to work that week, but I did not. Monday flew by and it was dinner time before I knew it. I heated up my left-overs from Tulsa and added it to my dinner. This was the incorrect decision.

Tuesday morning, I awoke at 5:30, on the dot. I had the strange feeling and hyper salivation of vomit-time. The rest of the day played out this way. I spent the equivalent of two to three hours in the bathroom, either regurgitating or emptying the sluice at the other end. By Wednesday, the vomiting had stopped, but the diarrhea continued through Thursday night. As of Tuesday this week, I was still recovering. I think today I am doing MUCH better.

I got some help from a co-worker. He suggested getting the sludge out. He had a product called Colon Blow. This product is an all-natural method for cleansing the colon. I mean, completely cleansing. So much, that they suggest eating yogurt after the treatment just to put some of the good bacteria BACK into your bowels. Visit the website. There's a lot of humor there. But, you have to have a sense of humor when you're talking about poo.

Given my condition (my state of being, not my disease), a change in diet is in order. Vegetable intake MUST increase dramatically. Dairy intake MUST decrease. Supplement that with daily vitamins and, if I have the will power, some daily exercise, I should be okay.

My body changed a little over 2 years ago. Right after I turned 30. I have a feeling things will only get worse when the next decade hits.
